Oceanfront Tuckaway Shores Resort a boutique hotel with character, charm

— If you are considering a “staycation” at a boutique hotel, Tuckaway Shores Resort on South Miramar Avenue excels in delivering personalized service in an oceanfront setting. Tuckaway Shores Resort has been operating as a small business for nearly half a century.
Independent hotels are known for their distinctive character and cozy ambience, going beyond the standard hospitality experience. And hundreds of Tuckaway Shores Resort customers have provided the kind of reviews that hotel operators strive to achieve in a competitive environment.
Boutique hotels typically have an identity that sets them apart in the marketplace. They are small and quaint.
“We try to create memorable experiences for our guests,” said businesswoman Pam Rothenberg, managing partner at Tuckaway Shores Resort Inc., whose hotel tagline is “suites on the beach.”
“We have customers from around the nation, probably from every state. But during the winter, guests come from New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Kentucky. And, of course, we serve a lot of local clients year–round, as well as people from Central Florida who come here because of our beaches. Some of them spend their vacations at Tuckaway Shores Resort. We do a lot of in–state business during the summer.”
The resort features comfortable and spacious suites for families, couples, or solo travelers.
“We have a loyal clientele, people who book with us year after year,” she said. “We are fortunate in that regard. And we have new clients. They, too, are turning into repeat customers. We’re proud of the relationships we have formed over the years with customers.”
Rothenberg said her hotel is “off the beaten path and is in a quiet setting. For customers at Tuckaway Shores Resort, it is like having a semi–private beach. That is how we market the hotel.”
The hotel provides an outdoor grilling area for clients. There is also a pool and a cabana.
According to a recent study, boutique hotels often “reflect the personality and style of the owner,” or an attribute of their property. And these hotels are generally defined as having less than 100 rooms.
The independent hotel industry is estimated to be around $206 billion in market size, with projections showing potential growth to reach $222 billion in 2032, representing a significant portion of the overall hotel market.
About 40 percent of U.S. hotels are independent, says a report by STR Inc., a subsidiary of the CoStar Group.
“While this business is always challenging, I believe it’s easier today to have an independent hotel because of the internet and the different channels where travelers can find out about your hotel,” said Rothenberg.
“And because of our good customer reviews and high scores on Google, people feel more confident booking with us even though we are not part of a big hotel chain and they have never stayed with us before. By reading the reviews that are available to the public, it gives them a sense of confidence that this is a good place to stay. We hear that all the time.”
Rothenberg said she encourages people who are making reservations for Tuckaway Shores Resort to “call direct because they will receive the best rate,” as opposed to using Expedia.com and Booking.com, for example. “They will know exactly what they are getting when they book directly with us"
